Theatre VCU Field Trip

Theatre students are invited to see Theatre VCU’s production of Spamalot on April 19th, 2017. The cost of this field trip is $15.00 and money/forms are due back by March 31st, 2017. Please see Ms. Picariello if you have any questions.

Theatre I Design Project

Please note that this project will be done in class. The students will have the weekend (March 24-26) to finish up any loose ends, but if they use their time wisely in class, they should be able to complete this project without having to take anything home.

Designing a Production Project Name_____________________________________
Directions: You will be the technical director/designer of a production. You will design the lighting, sound, costumes, set, and props. You will also write a one page design concept paper that focuses on the mood and theme of the show.
Step 1: Pick a fairy tale; I will give you a selection to choose from. You will have class time to read the synopsis of the fairy tale and analyze it (worksheet attached) and create a one page design concept paper that is typed. You must decide on the mood and the theme of the show in this paper.
Step 2: Design; you will need to design the show using the hand-outs attached in this package. You must create:
• Ground plan of your show
• Least three costume sketches of main characters
• Soundtrack to your show (at least five sounds or songs) on a CD or in a PowerPoint
• 2 paragraph description of your lighting design
• List of ALL PROPS need to complete your show
Step 3: Assemble; you will make a presentation of your design creations by combining all of your designs on to a poster board. You will have class time to make this, so you will need to bring your supplies in to class. If you do not have your supplies you will get a 0 for class participation. Your poster should be neat and creative.
Step 4: Present; you will give a 4 minute presentation of your production, selling your design concept to the director (me!).

Do Now Note Books

Do Now Notebooks are due 3/9/17
They should be in the correct bin and have all of your Do Nows and written notes.

Below is the rubric for grading. If you were absent please write in your notebook the dates you were absent, so I do not count those Do Nows against you.
